Aviation snips are like scissors for sheet metal. Yellow handles aviations snips are designed to make straight cuts while the green and red handles cut to the right or to the left when cutting circles. Be careful of the fresh cut edges of sheet metal when cutting as it is very sharp.
Whitney Hole Punch
A Whitney Hole punch can cut holes in sheet metal similar to how a paper punch works. Various sized dies can be put into the punch for different sized holes. Careful not to put your fingers between the handles when squeezing them together as it can quickly close once the hole is cut.
Files
Files are cutting tools that have several tiny teeth that shave down metal or hard plastic. Keep your material being filed close to the vice and use a cross cut motion for rough cutting or hold the file perpendicular across the materia and draw it toward you to produce a smooth finishing cut.
Pop Rivet Gun
A Pop rivet is like a nail for metal. It is inserted into a hole punched through the parts to be joined pop rivet gun is used to draw the pin into the rivet. This expands the blind end of the rivet and then the pin snaps off. Various sized Pop rivets are shown below
Tap and Die Set
A Tap and die set cuts threads in metal. A tap is the longer ones. It cuts threads in a hole like a nut has. The round dies cut threads on a shaft like a bolt. There are many different diameters and coarseness of threads that can be cut. If assembling parts with threads you must make sure you use the same size for both the tap and die.
